DIRECTORY TO FILE 1.00
----------------------
By Massimo Gentilini, Sysop on FidoNet 2:332/401
------------------------------------------------
This is a little and small utility to create a file list from a directory for
all the BBS programs that uses the FILES.BBS approach.
I think that is a semi-useless utility, but I needed them and so I wrote
it and gave it to public domain to avoid that people spends 5 minutes of
programming for something that already exist.
PROGRAM USAGE
-------------
The use of this program is really simple:
Go in the directory where you need to make the file list and (if the program
is in your path) simply start it, pressing the D, I, R, 2, F, I, L and E keys
followed by a carriage return (no, not at the same time, one after the other,
this is not a trick for windows 8-)...)
It will gracefully write a FILES.BBS file with the filenames of all files in
the directory (it skips FILES.BBS and FILES.OLD) and adding the size and
colors of GIF files to description, so the result will be like this:
MOANA.GIF 320x200x256
BIGMOANA.GIF 640x480x256
DIR2FILE.EXE
ECCETERA.ZIP
.
.
.
If Dir2File found another FILES.BBS in the directory it will alert you and
rename it to FILES.OLD (and deletes FILES.OLD if it exist, sorry), so that
you can look at its contents before deleting it.
WARRANTY
--------
Are you kidding, isn't you??? I can only state that the program is not a
virus or a trojan horse in its original form, that have the following validate
values:
File Name: dir2file.exe
Size: 8,896
Date: 5-22-1991
File Authentication:
Check Method 1 - C182
Check Method 2 - 10B4
A LAST NOTE
-----------
If you use this program and find it useful send a message to Massimo Gentilini,
on Fidonet on 2:332/401, just to let me know your appreciation (or not). I'm
just curious to see how far it will arrive.
Same as above for bugs (in a program of less than 100 lines of C I hope they
are absent) or suggestion.
